Disclosed herein is a method for the preparation of a granulated calcium-containing compound wherein the calcium-containing compound is selected from the group consisting of calcium carbonate, calcium citrate, calcium lactate, calcium phosphate including tricalcium phosphate, calcium gluconate, bisglycino calcium, calcium citrate maleate, hydroxyapatite including solvates thereof and mixtures thereof in a concentration of 50% w/w or more and in the form of particles and/or crystals, the method comprising applying a granulating composition comprising i) one or more water-soluble substances selected from the group consisting of polyols and carbohydrates, and ii) one or more polymeric substances selected from the group consisting of povidones and copovidones, and mixtures thereof, to a calcium-containing compound, and the water-soluble substance and the polymeric substance are dispersed or dissolved in a solvent. Also disclosed is a partly film-coated calcium-containing compound, wherein the calcium-containing compound is in the form of particles and/or crystals having at least part water-soluble film coating comprising i) one or more water-soluble substances selected from the group consisting of polyols and carbohydrates, and ii) one or more polymeric substances selected from the group consisting of povidones and copovidones, and mixtures thereof.
