A novel method for the isolation of bioactive compounds from Terminalia Arjuna is disclosed. More specifically, the present invention isolates and enriches bioactive compounds, aljunic acid, aljunolic acid, aljungenin, algenetin, aljun glucoside-I, aljun glucoside-II, and catechin from the bark of Terminaria aljuna. Disclose the method for doing so. The present invention also discloses a composition standardized to contain 3% of Arjun glucoside isolated from the bark of Terminalia Arjuna.
