The present inventionpertains to a method for lyophilisingparticles comprising frozen liquidhaving a pharmaceutical compoundcontained therein, comprising providinga heat conducting container havinga bottom and side walls, filling thecontainer with a bed of the particles, thebed comprising multiple layers of theparticles and having an aspect ratio ofnot less than 1, providing a heat sourceabove a top layer of the particles, theheat source having a surface directedto a top layer of the bed, which surfacehas an emissivity coefficient of at least0.4, subjecting the particles filled in thecontainer to a reduced pressure, heatingat least the bottom of the container andthe said surface to provide heat to theparticles to support sublimation of thefrozen liquid at the reduced pressure,and after the frozen liquid is sublimated,stopping the provision of heat to theparticles. The invention also pertainsto a pharmaceutical pack comprisinga container having contained thereinat least one particle obtained via thismethod.
