PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inhibiting agent inhibiting increase of the blood sugar level at a hungry time and after meal (on a full stomach), and an antidiabetic pharmaceutical.SOLUTION: (1S,3S)-1-methyl-1,2,3,4-tetrahydro-&beta-carboline-3-carboxylic acid and (1R,3S)-1-methyl-1,2,3,4-tetrahydro-&beta-carboline-3-carboxylic acid have been found to exhibit effects of inhibiting increase of the blood sugar level at a hungry time and the blood sugar level after meal (on a full stomach).
