A method for preventing or treating cardiomyopathy due to energy failure in a subject in need thereof is provided. The method comprises administering to the subject a therapeutically effective amount of a vector which comprises a nucleic acid sequence encoding a gene that can reverse energy failure. An exemplary cardiomyopathy is that which is associated with Friedreich ataxia and an exemplary nucleic acid sequence comprises a nucleic acid that encodes frataxin (FXN).La présente invention concerne un procédé pour prévenir ou traiter une cardiomyopathie due à un manque d'énergie chez un sujet en ayant besoin, comprenant l'administration audit sujet d'une quantité thérapeutiquement efficace d'un vecteur qui comprend une séquence d'acide nucléique d'un gène qui peut rétablir un manque d'énergie. Plus particulièrement, l'invention concerne un procédé pour prévenir ou traiter une cardiomyopathie associée à l'ataxie de Friedreich chez un sujet en ayant besoin, comprenant l'administration audit sujet d'une quantité thérapeutiquement efficace d'un vecteur qui comprend un acide nucléique codant de la frataxine (FXN).
