A housed compressor comprising: a shell (28008), a linear compressor (28002) suspended within and enclosed by the shell with a gases space within the shell surrounding the linear compressor, the linear compressor having a piston reciprocable in a cylinder and a suction gases pathway (28032) from the gases space into the cylinder, a suction gases inlet (28010) to the shell gases space, a compressed gases path (28024) from the cylinder out of the shell, and a gas flow inhibitor (28014) in the gases space, substantially dividing a first region (28020) of the gases space from a second region (28018) of the gases space, and inhibiting gases flow between the first and second regions, the suction gases inlet and the suction gases pathway opening to the first region, and the compressed gases path passing through the second region.
