PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cell-activating agent widely applicable to fields of an external preparation for the skin, a food and drink, and the like, a whitening agent, an antioxidant, an amylase inhibitor and a moisturizer, by discovering an active ingredient having excellent cell-activating activities, whitening activities, antioxidant activities, amylase-inhibiting activities, moisture-retaining activities and the like.
SOLUTION: The cell-activating agent, the whitening agent, the antioxidant, the amylase inhibitor and the moisturizer contain an extract of Elaeagnus latifolia having the excellent cell-activating activities, whitening activities, antioxidant activities, amylase-inhibiting activities, moisture-retaining activities and the like. Various kinds of compositions exhibiting excellent effects on the prevention and amelioration of skin symptoms such as wrinkle, sagging of the skin, tenseness of the skin, freckle and drabness, and diseases caused by the increase of a blood glucose level such as diabetes, obesity and arteriosclerosis are provided by blending the extract of the Elaeagnus latifolia with a composition such as an external preparation for the skin and a food.
