Aquaculture feeds include a combination of proteinaceous vegetable materialandproteinaceous fish material. The vegetable and fish materials are combinedwithadditives such as alcohol and reducing agents and heated at elevatedtemperatures torelease oil and nutrients from the fish material. At least a portion of theoil is absorbedinto the proteinaceous vegetable material to form a proteinaceous product fromthemixture. Alcohol is removed from the mixture to form the aquaculture feed withenhanced protein digestibility and solubility. The aquaculture feed mayinclude up toabout 50 percent proteinaceous vegetable material and up to about 50 percentproteinaceous fish material. Aquaculture species ingesting diets of theaquaculture feedexperience improvements in weight gain, protein conversion efficiency, andfeedefficiency compared to aquaculture species ingesting diets of fishmeal aloneor soy flakeproduced according to traditional methods.
