PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide methods for treating a myelodysplastic syndrome of a patient.SOLUTION: The methods for treating a myelodysplastic syndrome in the patient comprises administering a therapeutically effective amount of ezatiostat or a salt thereof, when an under-expression and/or an over-expression of a specific gene is detected in the patient. The gene of the under-expression is miR-129 or the gene of the over-expression is miR-155.
