Disclosed is a disinfecting formulation comprising, by volume: (a) from about 65 percent to about 75 percent alcohol (for example ethanol, methanol, isopropanol)； (b) from about 10 per cent to about 25 per cent of one or more essential oils comprising cineole (for example eucalyptus, tea tree, bay leaf, spearmint and rosemary oils)； (c) from about 0.5 per cent to about 5 per cent of a gelling agent (for example petroleum wax)； (d) from about 1 percent to about 4 percent of one or more emollient agents (for example glycerine)； and (e) water. Also disclosed is a method for making the disinfecting formulation.
