The invention relates to a solid coloring material obtained by precipitation, in an aqueous medium, of the reaction product of an alkali metal silicate with a colored complex obtained by reaction, in aqueous solution, of a hydrolysable tannin or of a plant extract comprising it with a salt of a metal cation. The invention also relates to a cosmetic composition intended for making up the skin or superficial body growths comprising this coloring material.
