An antifungal composition for topical application to the nail, comprising: from about 1% to about 20% of the diol component, from about 0.1% to about 4% of an organic acid component, from about 75% to about 96% volatile a carrier, from about 0.01% to about 10% of an antifungal agent; and - from about 0.3% to about 20% of a keratolytic agent; characterized in that the antifungal agent and keratolytic agent are soluble in said composition in the absence of a volatile carrier, and at least one of the antifungal agent and keratolytic agent is in a solid state in the composition in the presence of a volatile carrier. 2. A composition according to claim 1, characterized in that the diol component comprises at least one diol selected from the group consisting of ethylene glycol, propylene glycol, propanediol, butyldiol, butanediol, pentanediol, hexanediol and mixtures of these diols. A composition according to claim 1 or 2, characterized in that the component based on an organic acid comprises at least one C-carboxylic acid. The composition according to claim 3, wherein the C-carboxylic acid comprises alpha-hydroxycarboxylic acid. The composition according to claim 4, wherein the alpha hydroxycarboxylic acid comprises at least one of lactic acid and citric acid.
