The use of desloratadine for the preparation of a medicament for the treatmentand/or prevention of allergic and inflammatory conditions of the skin orairway passages in a human of 12 years and older in need of such treatmentand/or prevention by administration of an amount of desloratadine, e.g.,5mg/day for 10 days, sufficient to produce a geometric mean steady statemaximum plasma concentration of desloratadine in the range of 2.90 ng/mL to4.54 ng/mL, preferably 3.63 ng/mL, or an arithmetic mean steady state maximumplasma concentration of desloratadine in the range of 3.2 ng/mL to 5.0 ng/mL,preferably 4ng/mL .
