PURPOSE: A method for suppressing MMP-3 activation using Baekjeolyusintang and an active ingredient thereof is provided to predict and diagnose degenerative arthritis.CONSTITUTION: A method for suppressing MMP-3 activation comprises a step of applying Baekjeolyusintang or berberine which is an active ingredient thereof to inflammation-promoted chondrocytes.
