PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a superconducting electromagnet capable of providing a desired cooling performance by a simple constitution.
SOLUTION: This superconducting electromagnet is provided with: a superconducting coil 1 a helium tank 2 storing the superconducting coil 1 and storing liquid helium 3 for cooling the superconducting coil 1 a vacuum chamber 5 storing the helium tank 2, a first heat shield 6 installed between the helium tank 2 and the vacuum chamber 5 surrounding the helium tank 2 a refrigerator 8 that has a first cooling stage 81 disposed in the first heat shield 6, and a second cooling stage 82 connected to the first cooling stage 81 by a connecting tube 83, condensing the helium gas 4 into the liquid helium 3 and disposed in the helium tank 2 a support part supporting the helium tank 2 and the first heat shield 6 to the vacuum chamber 5 and a second heat shield 7 installed between the first heat shield 6 and the helium tank 2 surrounding the helium tank 2.
