A multilayer occluder for the treatment of a given area within the body, the occluder contains:! a first layer having a predetermined expanded shape containing braided strands of metal material； and! a second layer connected to said first layer and containing braided strands of polymeric material and metallic material, wherein the second layer is woven so that strands of polymeric material are at least partially flattened from a substantially circular cross section, the occluder being able to compress to a reduced shape by the application of external force, and with the subsequent adoption of an expanded form when removing external force. ! 2. The occluder according to claim 1, wherein said strands of metallic material or polymeric material is at least one of a thread, cord, yarn or wire. ! 3. The occluder according to claim 1, wherein said first layer is located radially inside or around the second layer. ! 4. The occluder according to claim 3, wherein said first and second layers are arranged generally concentrically with respect to each other. ! 5. The occluder according to claim 1, in which at least one of the first and second layers is configured to alleviate thrombosis. ! 6. The occluder according to claim 1, in which the polymeric material includes a heat-fixing polymer. ! 7. The occluder according to claim 6, wherein said heat-fixing polymer is a shape memory polymer. ! 8. The occluder according to claim 1, wherein said first and second layers respectively comprise strands braided at a common angle of inclination so that the first and second layers maintain essentially the same ratio of the length of the reduced shape to the length of the extended shape when elongated1.
