Portable, battery powered electrosurgical wave generators can be used to perform electrically driven medical procedures. The wave generator may be small and lightweight to allow the user to carry the wave generator and use it in a non-operating room type environment. The wave generator may include a control unit for generating an output signal in each of an incision mode, a solidification mode, and a bipolar mode. The control unit may use a single circuit structure to generate an output signal for the dissection, coagulation, and bipolar modes.
