The present utility model describes a drug delivery system from iron oxide nanoparticles and its preparation. Specifically, it is directed to the method of using polyethylene glycol-coated magnetic iron oxide (Fe304) nanoparticles as a drug delivery system. Magnetic iron oxide is obtained from Chromolaena odorata leaf extract. Its preparation comprises of raw material preparation, hydrothermal reduction of ferric chloride, coating of nanoparticles with polyethylene glycol, and loading of ciprofloxacin in the nanoparticle carriers.
