A catheter for delivering an agent to targeted tissue of a mammalian bodyincluding a first elongate tubular memberhaving a proximal opening and a distal end wall. A second elongate tubularmember having a portion extends through first elongatetubular member and has a distal end extending beyond the end wall. The firstand second tubular members form an annular cavitywithin the first tubular member. A stiffening member has at least a portiondisposed within the annular cavity for facilitating accurateplacement of the distal end relative to the targeted tissue in the mammalianbody and is removeable from the annular cavity aftersuch placement without removal of the second elongate tubular member from themammalian body. A method is provided.
