Devices and methods for deterring pests are described. In oneembodiment, the device comprises a housing, a volatile deterrent agent in thehousing, the volatile deterrent agent producing a pest deterrent gas, at leastoneoutlet port in the housing for exit of the pest deterrent gas, a closuremember forselectively opening and closing the at least one outlet port, and a supportcoupled to the housing and providing structural rigidity to the housing. Inanotherembodiment, the method comprises providing a plurality of pest deterrentdevices in an area, each pest deterrent device comprising a housing containingavolatile deterrent agent, the volatile deterrent agent producing a pestdeterrentgas, and opening a closure member of each pest deterrent device to release thevolatile deterrent agent.
