Řešení poskytuje způsob přípravy rostlin ječmene odolných vůči suchu, při němž se do genomu ječmene vloží nukleotidová sekvence obsahující .beta.-glukosidasový promotor a sekvenci, která kóduje enzym s cytokinindehydrogenázovou aktivitou a která má alespoň 80% identitu k sekvenci genu AtCKX1 z rostliny Arabidopsis thaliana. Dále řešení poskytuje expresní kazetu, která obsahuje .beta.-glukosidasový promotor-AtCKX1-terminátor, a použití této expresní kazety pro přípravu rostlin ječmene vykazujících odolnost vůči suchu.The present invention provides a process for preparing barley plants that are resistant to dry season, wherein the preparation process is characterized in that a nucleotide sequence containing {beta}-glucosidase promoter is introduced into a barley genome along with a sequence, witch encodes an enzyme exhibiting cytokinine dehydrogenase activity and which has at least 80 percent identity to the sequence of the AtCKX1 gene of the Arabidopsis thaliana plant. The invention further provides an expression cassette, which contains the beta}-glucosidase promoter-AtCKX1-terminator as well as the use of this expression cassette for the preparation of barley plants exhibiting resistance to dry season.
