An imaging system may include: a scan head optically coupled to the light source and configured to scan light from a light source onto a portion of a specimen and to receive light reflected from the portion of the specimen； an interferometer optically coupled to the light source and to the scan head to receive and generating an interference output using light from the light source and light reflected from the portion of the specimen； a scanning spectrometer optically coupled to the interferometer to receive the interference output and generating a scanned output, the scanned output having a sub-spectrum of light which is narrower than a spectrum of light generated by the light source； and a detector optically coupled to the scanning spectrometer to detect the scanned output and generating a detector signal from the detected scanned output.
