PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To facilitate a procedure by effectively using stereoscopic information contained in a three-dimensional image acquired by CT, MRI, or the like.SOLUTION: An endoscope system 1 includes: an endoscope 2 inserted into the inside of a subject for acquiring an image of an observation region an endoscope detecting part 3 for detecting the position and observation direction of the endoscope 2 a storage part 9 which stores a three-dimensional image in the vicinity of the observation region and the amount of stereoscopic characteristics in a plurality of representative points on the three-dimensional image by corresponding to each other and an image processing part 5 which projects the representative point on the three-dimensional image stored in the storage part 9 on a plane perpendicular to the observation direction of the endoscope 2 based on the position and the observation direction of the endoscope 2 which are detected by the endoscope detecting part 3 and generates an image G2 of the amount of characteristics that indicates the amount of stereoscopic characteristics in the position of each representative point projected on the plane.
