The present invention relates to a whitening and anti-wrinkle cosmetic composition comprising extract of a smilax china L. stem. It is observed that activity of the extract of the smilax china L. stem is better than that of extract of smilax china L. root by measuring electron donating ability, xanthine oxidase inhibitory activity, tyrosinase inhibitory activity, and collagenase inhibitory activity of the extract of the smilax china L. stem and the extract of the smilax china L. root. Thus, the cosmetic composition comprising the extract of the smilax china L. stem may provide a whitening cosmetic composition or an anti-wrinkle cosmetic composition which are more effective than existing cosmetic compositions.COPYRIGHT KIPO 2015본 발명은 명감나무(Smilax China L.) 줄기 추출물을 유효성분으로 하는 미백용 및 주름개선용 화장료 조성물에 대한 것으로, 본 발명자들은 명감나무 줄기 및 뿌리 추출물의 전자공여능, 잔틴산화효소(xanthine oxidase) 저해활성 측정, 티로시나아제(tyrosinase) 저해활성 측정, 콜라게나아제(collagenase) 저해활성 측정을 통하여 명감나무 줄기 추출물이 뿌리 추출물보다 활성이 우수함을 확인하였으며, 이에 따라 명감나무 줄기 추출물을 포함하는 화장료 조성물은 종래보다 우수한 효과를 가지는 미백용 화장료 조성물 또는 주름개선용 화장료 조성물을 제공할 수 있다.
