Disclosed is a method for determining whether a predetermined location is within a hazard zone (301) associated with at least one operation of a timber-working device (1). The timber-working device (1) transmits an electromagnetic wave within a window aligned with the at least one hazard zone (301). A sensor associated with the timber-working device (1) receives a signal to determine a demarcated location and detects reflection of the electromagnetic wave from a demarcated predetermined location. The presence of the predetermined location within the hazard zone (301) is then determined based on the signal from the sensor.
