A machine for coupling a plunger rod to a syringe assembly includes a seat portion sized to receive the syringe assembly and an aperture portion positioned above the seat portion and sized to receive the plunger rod. A carriage may be included, including a cradle. An actuator is operably coupled to the carriage and may be adapted to move the cradle from the first position to the second position to couple the plunger rod to the syringe assembly. The carriage may be selected from separate and compatible first and second carriages, the first carriage including a cradle adapted to receive a first size syringe assembly, and the second carriage.
