Suture anchoring systems and methods are provided for securing a suture to a bone aperture. A suture anchor may have a sack secured to the suture, and a filling material insertable into the sack, wherein the filling material is movable to actuate the suture anchor from an implantation configuration to an anchoring configuration. The filling material may include a plurality of anchoring elements configured to be coupled to the suture such that the anchoring elements are movable to actuate the suture anchor from an implantation configuration to an anchoring configuration. In the implantation configuration, the anchoring elements may be arranged to define a compact cross-sectional shape insertable into a bone aperture.
