The present invention relates to a novel monascuspurpurone compound of formula (I):or a pharmaceutically acceptable derivative thereof as described in the specification, the process for preparation of the same, and the composition comprising the same. The uses of a monascuspurpurone compound for promoting adipocyte differentiation, for increasing the activity of PPARγ and/or C/EBPα, for lowering blood glucose, for the prevention and/or treatment of a disease or disorder related to insulin resistance, and for the prevention and/or treatment of metabolic syndrome or its complications are also provided. The invention also provides extracts of red yeast rice-fermented products and their uses for prevention and/or treatment of a disease or disorder related to insulin resistance, such as metabolic syndrome.本發明係關於如本說明書中所述之式(I)之新穎紫紅麴酮,或其醫藥學上可接受之衍生物、其製備方法、及包含該化合物之組合物。本發明亦提供紫紅麴酮用於促進脂肪細胞分化、提高PPARγ及/或C/EBPα活性、降低血糖、預防及/或治療與胰島素抗性相關之疾病或病症及預防及/或治療代謝症候群或其併發症的用途。本發明亦提供紅麴米發酵產物之萃取物及其用於預防及/或治療與胰島素抗性相關之疾病或病症(諸如代謝症候群)的用途。(無元件符號說明)
