PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a dentifrice composition that has excellent retention of fluoride ion in the oral cavity, especially on tooth surfaces, excellent shaping on a toothbrush and improved storage stability of preparation with time, sufficient foaming properties and improved sense of use and contains a fluoride.SOLUTION: The dentifrice composition is prepared by mixing a sodium fluoride-containing dentifrice composition with (A) a silica-based abrasive, (B) sorbitol and/or glycerol, (C) at least one kind of a cellulose derivative selected from hydroxyethyl cellulose, hydroxypropylmethyl cellulose and methyl cellulose and (D) a polyoxyethylene alkyl ether having an average EO addition mol number of 15-25 and containing a 16-18C alkyl group or a polyoxyethylene hardened castor oil having average EO addition mol number of 40-80 in the mass ratio of the component (A)/the component (C) of 5.6-14.0.
