A medication dispenser 10 comprises: multiple containers 32, 12, suitable for holding medication and paraphernalia for administering medication； and a timing device for ensuring timely and controlled administration of medication by preventing unauthorised access which may be achieved using childproofing means, wherein a control means controls the timing device and has an anti-tamper means. A time period is set using the control means 20, 22 and upon expiry of said time period an alert is triggered and a lock can be released to enable the user to gain access to the containers. The dispenser may comprise a means for resetting the timing device which may also be childproof or have an anti-tamper means. A display 18 may also be present which may show the time remaining until the time period expires or the actual time. A visual indicator 26 may be provided in the form of a light which changes colour.
