PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ion generator which can supply positive ions and negative ions, with good balance in number, to a space near the ion generator, without being affected adversely by a potential on the outside of a housing.SOLUTION: An ion generator 1 including a first ion generation element 3 and a second ion generation element 4 in a housing 2 is further provided with an outlet 10 for ejecting positive ions and negative ions, and a voltage application part 5 for applying a voltage to the housing 2. The first ion generation element 3 and second ion generation element 4 are disposed near the outlet 10, and the housing 2 has a metal layer 13 internally.
