PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a metal composite membrane for hydrogen permeation that includes a porous nickel plating film having excellent gas permeability and enough strength.SOLUTION: A metal composite membrane for hydrogen permeation is produced by a reverse build-up method using Ni for a porous metal reinforcing and supporting member. A plating film deposited on a metal membrane for hydrogen permeation together with a surfactant added to a plating bath is subjected to heat treatment (high-temperature heat treatment) to burn and remove the surfactant only in the plating film. The metal composite membrane for hydrogen permeation is characterized by including a porous Ni support layer composed of thus obtained porous Ni plating film having open holes in the film thickness direction in the plating film.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2A
