A system that indicates the presence or absence of microorganisms in liquid food. The system has a bottle to accept the sample to be tested. Bottles have sensors that monitor and detect changes in at least one sample parameter but do not have additives containing nutrients to support microbial growth. The bottle is placed in the incubator and the sensors in the bottle are monitored for changes.
