The present invention relates to specific inhibitors of the cellulose synthase subunits 1 and 3 activity in plants, useful as a herbicide. In addition, the invention relates to mutant plants which are tolerant to the identified inhibitors. Specific mutant alleles of CESA1 and CESA3 genes can be used to obtain resistance in a plant when the inhibitors are used as herbicide.L'invention concerne des inhibiteurs spécifiques des sous-unités 1 et 3 de la cellulose synthase dans des plantes, utiles en tant qu'herbicides. L'invention concerne également des plantes mutantes présentant une tolérance aux inhibiteurs identifiés. Des allèles mutants spécifiques des gènes CESA1 et CESA3 peuvent être utilisés pour obtenir une résistance dans une plante lorsque les inhibiteurs selon l'invention sont utilisés en tant qu'herbicides.
