A process for the preparation of a tablet that is broken down orally for administration to a human subject, the tablet containing a medicinal substance for treating a disorder of the human subject, comprising the steps of: i. provide a fluid formulation comprising the medicinal substance, ii. providing a solid element (100) having at least one cavity (101) formed therein, iii. cooling the solid element (100) to a temperature below the freezing temperature of the formulation, iv. fill the cavity (101) with the fluid formulation, v. solidify the formulation while it is present in the cavity (101) by extracting heat from the formulation through a wall of the cavity by conduction, to form a solid granule (30) comprising the medicinal substance without actively forming the surface of the granule, vi . remove the granule (30) from the cavity (101), and vii.
