A deodorant agent or deodorant preparation is compounded with an extract, as an active ingredient, from at least one plant or material derived from plant, selected from among Geranium nepalense var. thunbergii, Artemisia capillaries, Actinida chinensis Planch, Artemisia capillaries, mallow, prune, grapefruit, Ligusticum acutilobum, gentian, Notopterygii Rhizome, Potentilla tormentilla Neck, Mentha piperita, garlic, watercress, Carthamus tinctorius, linden, jujube, rice bran, Rubus suavissimus, rosewood, Common English ivy, Japanese medlar, Rosa roxburghii, Hypericum perforatum L., spruce, Rose Fruit, carrot, Rosacanina, quince seed and nonsalted fermented soybeans. The thus provided deodorant agent or deodorant preparation is capable of persistently inhibiting the formation of volatile steroids that are one of potent causative agents of body odor.
