PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an egg candling apparatus including an LED light source and a lift mechanism for lifting eggs to an appropriate position.SOLUTION: The egg candling apparatus includes: an egg supply aligning section for placing a tray 10 containing inspection eggs 11 from an incubator a light source section 50 including an egg candling part for determining the quality of the inspection eggs 11 in the conveyed tray 10 and specifying defective eggs, and a disposal part for taking out the defective eggs, wherein the egg candling part is arranged in the upper part a lifting section 40 lifting the inspection eggs 11 upward from the lower side of the tray 10 so as to abut against the light source part 50 a determining section 30 determining the quality of the inspection eggs 11 illuminated by the light source 50 and a notifying means for specifying the positions of the inspection eggs 11 determined to be defective eggs by the determining section 30, and notifying the disposal part.
