The present invention relates to inhibitors of post-proline cleaving enzymes, such as inhibitors of dipeptidyl peptidase IV, as well as pharmaceutical compositions thereof, and methods for using such inhibitors. In particular, the inhibitors of the present invention are improved over those in the prior art by selection of particular classes of sidechains in the P1 and/or P2 position of the inhibitor that contain a carboxylic acid moiety. The compounds of the present invention can have a better therapeutic index, owing in part to reduced toxicity and/or improved specificity for the targeted protease.본 발명은 디펩티딜 펩티다아제 IV의 억제제와 같은 후-프롤린 분해 효소 억제제 이의 약제 조성물 및 이러한 억제제를 사용하는 방법에 관한 것이다. 특히, 본 발명의 억제제는 카르복실산 잔기를 함유하는 억제제의 P1 및/또는 P2 위치에서 특수 부류의 측쇄를 선택한다는 점에서 선행 기술의 억제제에 비해 개선되었다. 본 발명의 이러한 화합물은, 표적 프로테아제에 대해 개선된 특이성 및/또는 감소된 독성에 부분적으로 기인하여 양호한 치료 지수를 가질 수 있다.
