PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an X-ray imaging apparatus which easily provides secure feeling to a subject and in which positioning of a detector can be easily done.SOLUTION: The X-ray imaging apparatus 1 includes an FPD 7 for detecting X-ray transmitting the subject M, and a light modulating sheet 25 which is arranged between the FPD 7 and the subject M and in which transmissivity of light changes according to an applied volt. It is possible to easily visually perceive the FPD 7 over the light modulating sheet 25 by raising the transmissivity of light of the light modulating sheet 25. Further, it is also possible to prevent the FPD 7 from being easily visually perceived through the light modulating sheet 25 by lowering the transmissivity of light of the light modulating sheet 25.
