The invention relates to a method for the production of butter in a buttermaking machine which comprises at least one inlet (1) into a churning cylinder (2) with a dasher (3), a second churning drum (5), a texturizer (6) and an outlet, characterized in that either a measurement of the current consumption for operating the second churning drum (5) and/or a measurement of the current consumption for operating a texturizer (6) and of the fluctuations of these current consumptions as a result of interferences during an excessive or insufficient churning is carried out and that countermeasures are initiated when a threshold value is exceeded or not met during fluctuations of the current consumption.
