This invention declares the function and application of Vernicia montana gene encoding diacylglycerol acyltransferase (DAGT) on promoting plant biomass. The worth characters of this gene were proved in several transgenic plants overexpressing this gene including Arabidopsis thaliana, Jatropha curcas and Brassica rape, and elucidate its function on improving the yield.
