PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent harmful effects on a subject and an endoscope apparatus when an infrared ray cut filter is damaged.
SOLUTION: In the endoscope apparatus, the infrared ray cut filter 25 is disposed between a diaphragm 26 for adjusting the amount of light and a lamp 22 for emitting illuminating light, and a conductive film is formed on the surface of the infrared ray cut filter 25. When the conductive film is broken due to the damage of the infrared ray cut filter 25, the diaphragm 26 is driven to place a light shielding plate for the diaphragm 26 at an emergency position where the light shielding plate shields the most of the illuminating light.
