PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and an apparatus for suspension particle concentration such as of planktons which enable accurate degree setting of depth with little disturbance applied on the distribution of natural states and develop no agglomeration or crush.SOLUTION: The suspension particle concentrator, which comprises a lid, a container, a telescopic cylindrical member provided in the container or lid and an extension means and a shrinkage means for the cylindrical member, is characterized in that the extension means captures suspension particles into a sealed space demarcated with the lid, extended cylindrical member, and container by extending the telescopic cylindrical member from the container side to the lid, or by extending the telescopic cylindrical member from the lid side to the container, and in that the shrinkage means reduces the volume of the sealed space demarcated with the lid, cylindrical member, and container by shrinking the cylindrical member to raise up the number density of suspension particle individuals and captures them in a short time by two-step capture actions under extension and two-step works of concentration to concentrate the particles so as not to vary shapes.COPYRIGHT: (C)2014,JPO&INPIT【課題】自然状態の分布に加える擾乱が少なく深度設定が正確にでき、凝集、つぶれなどが生じない、プランクトン等の懸濁粒子濃縮方法および装置を提供する。【解決手段】蓋と、容器と、容器又は蓋に設けた伸縮自在の筒状部材と、該筒状部材の伸長手段及び収縮手段を備えた懸濁粒子濃縮装置であって、前記伸長手段は、容器側から伸縮自在の筒状部材を蓋まで伸長することにより、又は、蓋側から伸縮自在の筒状部材を容器まで伸長することにより、蓋と伸長した筒状部材と容器とで画定された密封空間内に懸濁粒子を補捉し、前記収縮手段は、筒状部材を収縮することで蓋と筒状部材と容器とで画定された密封空間の体積を小さくして懸濁粒子個体数密度をあげるとともに、伸長により捕捉する動作と収縮による濃縮作業を二段階にわけることで捕捉を短時間で行い、粒子の性状を変えないように濃縮することを特徴とする。【選択図】図1
