Disclosed are small peptides derived from a cytokine, interleukin-4 (IL-4), capable of binding to the IL-4 receptors and inhibiting macrophage activation, and thereby preventing the onset of inflammatory response. The invention further relates to use of said peptides for the production of a medicament for the treatment of different pathological conditions, wherein IL-4 plays a prominent role.
