The invention concerns an upright wheelchair with a chassis, and a seat arranged pivotably on the chassis. The seat can be pivoted about a pitch axis from a substantially horizontal seating position to a substantially vertical standing position. A footrest may be provided. According to the invention, the upright wheelchair comprises pivoting means that are arranged such that, in at least the vertical standing position, the seat is pivotable with respect to the chassis about a yaw axis that is substantially parallel to the vertical.
