PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide hair cosmetic satisfying both of setting and operability (especially spreadability to the hair, etc.) in case of applying the cosmetic to the hair, free from flaking trouble in combing and having improved partial style forming performance.

SOLUTION: The hair cosmetic contains (I) 1.0-5.0 wt.% of higher alcohols, (II) 1.0-6.0 wt.% of an ester composed of a 3-22C fatty acid and an alcohol, (III) 1.0-6.0 wt.% of waxes, (IV) 0.1-1.5 wt.% of oils and fats, (V) 1.0-6.0 wt.% of nonionic surfactants, (VI) 1.0-5.0 wt.% of fatty acids, (VII) 0.05-0.5 wt.% of alkaline agents, (VIII) 0.05-0.5 wt.% of coconut oil fatty acid monoethanolamides and (IX) 0.1-5.0 wt.% of polyhydric alcohols, and has viscosity of 5,000-25,000 mPa s.
