PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sanitary insect pest repellent capable of repelling a sanitary insect pest by synergism of DEET (N,N-diethyl-meta-toluamide) and an essential oil without giving sticky feeling or stiff discomfort to hair even in a use method for coating, dispersing, or spraying to a human body, towel, a bedding such as a pillow for adhering the repellent against the sanitary insect pest harming the human body such as lice.SOLUTION: There is provided: a sanitary insect pest repellent including 0.08-25.0 weight volume % of N, N-diethyl-meta-toluamide, 0.003-20.0 weight volume % of essential oil, and water； and a sanitary insect pest repellent obtained by making the above-mentioned sanitary insect pest repellent contain C2-C6 alcohol.【課題】シラミなどの人体に対して作用する衛生害虫に対して、人体、タオル、枕などの寝具などに塗布、散布、噴霧などして付着させる使用方法においても、べたつき感や毛髪に対するごわごわする不快感を与えず、ＤＥＥＴと精油による相乗効果により衛生害虫を忌避することができる衛生害虫忌避剤を提供することを目的とする。【解決手段】０．０８～２５．０重量体積％のＮ，Ｎ－ジエチル－ｍ－トルアミドと、０．００３～２０．０重量体積％の精油と、水とを含有することを特徴とする衛生害虫忌避剤、また、炭素数２～６のアルコールを含有する前記の衛生害虫忌避剤などにより解決することができた。【選択図】なし
