PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a safety mechanism equipped to a bed fence capable of avoiding an unexpected situation for a user and an operator, and securing safety of an operation sufficiently.SOLUTION: A safety mechanism equipped to a bed fence 1 includes a plate-like lifting body 2 detachably attached to a side frame 6 provided to a side in a right and left direction of a bed 5, which is thin in the right and left direction as compared with the length in a front-back direction, and which stands with the plate surface directed to the right and left direction, an accommodation body 3 for accommodating the lifting body 2 in a way that it can be moved in and out in a vertical direction, and a lifting mechanism 4 for lifting the lifting body 2 with respect to the accommodation body 3.
