A fabric substrate suitable for lining between a cast and a person. The fabricsubstrate includes a pair of opposingfaces formed by pillar and inlay stitches. The fabric is constructed at leastin part of hydrophobic, water-resistant yarns configuredto provide enhanced water resistance and sufficient stretch in both a lengthand width direction to facilitate conforming the undercastliner around the anatomical shape without wrinkling during application. Anintermediate tying layer spans between the opposingfaces, and the tying layer includes elastic yarns stitched in a V stitchpattern such that the elastic yarns extend between one opposingfabric face and the other face.
