The invention relates to compositions in which the phenolic compound thymol or carvacrol is solubilized or dispersed in water through the addition of a surfactant and a solvent. In certain embodiments is also comprised a further pesticide, a fertilizer, a defoamer, a plant growth regulator, or combinations thereof. Also taught are methods for the control of pests or for regulating the growth of plants through contacting the plants, their seeds, or soil in which they grow with said compositions.La invención trata sobre las composiciones en las que se solubilizan o dispersan en agua el compuesto fenólico timol o carvacrol a través de la adición de un surfactante y un disolvente. En ciertas formas de realización, también consta de un pesticida, un fertilizante, un antiespumante, un regulador de crecimiento de plantas o combinaciones de los mismos de manera adicional. También se muestran métodos para el control de plagas o para regular el crecimiento de las plantas a través del contacto con las plantas, sus semillas o la tierra orgánica en la que crecen junto con esas composiciones.
